R&B

Apple Music’s Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show starring Usher is now Emmy-nominated.

The performance is up for Outstanding Variety Special (Live) at the 76th Emmy Awards, which will air live Sunday, Sept. 15 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. It marks Usher’s first Emmy nomination.

Usher’s halftime show is up against the 66th Grammy Awards, the 76th Annual Tony Awards, The Oscars, and The Greatest Roast Of All Time: Tom Brady.

The halftime show is also nominated in two other categories, Outstanding Lighting Design/Lighting Direction For A Variety Special and Outstanding Technical Direction and Camerawork For A Special. It’s worth nothing Usher is not nominated in these two categories.

Usher headlined the Super Bowl LVIII Halftime show on Feb. 11 at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The record-breaking performance featured appearances by Usher’s collaborators Alicia Keys, Jermaine Dupri, H.E.R., will.i.am, Lil Jon, and Ludacris.

Per the NFL, Usher’s performance was the most-watched Super Bowl halftime show performance in history, with over 129.3 million viewers.

“I was not exaggerating when I shared with the world that my performance would be a celebration of the past 30 years of my career,” Usher said.

“I will never forget the energy from the cast & crew, the fans in the stadium, the guest performers and the adrenaline from this monumental milestone in my career. I’m so happy everyone enjoyed it, my goal always is to bring people together and feel good through my music and performance.”
