If you thought I’d gone soft with last week’s Bleakheart premiere, fear not. Or, rather, be very afraid. Horror aficionados House by the Cemetery are rousing the undead once again with their sophomore album, The Mortuary Hauntings.

Following their tried-and-true formula of pummeling riffs and mid-paced Death Metal that throbs to herd a wall of zombies, Rogga Johansson (Paganizer, ex-Bone Gnawer, Massacre) and Mike Hrubovcak (ex-Monstrosity, Azure Emote, ex-Vile) disintegrate and reconstruct their love for Metal and old horror films, fortifying the two genres into an unwavering subculture hallmark with a stylistic departure from their debut.

The Mortuary Hauntings continues with an endearing worship of retro-death Metal and timeless devotion to cult horror flicks. The album was recorded by House by the Cemetery, with mixing duties shared between Ronnie Björnström at EAP Productions and Håkan Stuvemark at Necrotic Audio Productions. Stuvemark also handled the mastering. The evocative cover artwork by Colombian illustrator Felipe Mora (Critical Defiance, Consumption, Mortify) perfectly captures the album’s macabre essence.

For fans of Bone Gnawer, Gorefest, Six Feet Under, and old-school Death Metal, The Mortuary Hauntings promises to be a must-listen. Whether you’re here for the metal, horror, or both, this album offers a brutal and nostalgic journey through the eerie and the undead. Out Friday, you can pre-order The Mortuary Hauntings here and be haunted by its sinister echoes right here, right now, right below.
