Bryson Tiller Releases Self-Titled Album: Stream

R&B

Welcome to the Tillerverse. Grammy-nominated artist Bryson Tiller has shared his self-titled album via RCA Records.

The 19-track concept album takes listeners on an odyssey through Tiller’s musical palette that goes beyond the trapsoul box he’s been placed in. He bounces from silky bedroom jams (“Attention”) and flirty grooves (“Persuasion” featuring Victoria Monét) to Jersey club beats (“Random Access Memories”) and trunk-rattling bangers (“F4U”) without missing a step.

“Undertow,” another highlight that Poo Bear produced, has traces of bluegrass, which could be a nod to his hometown, Louisville, Kentucky. Then there’s “Assume The Position,” an electronic dance-infused bop that feels optimized for pop radio.

The Monét-assisted “Persuasion,” produced by D’Mile, is among the album’s standouts, with its cheeky play on words. “He asked if he could grab all on my Absolutely,” Monét sings, while Tiller croons, “Gave her the di-sclaimer don’t fall in love.”

The album also includes the previously shared songs “Outside,” “Calypso” and “Whatever She Wants.” The latter song, which is a bonus track, peaked at No. 19 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Bryson Tiller is Tiller’s most sprawling album yet and seamlessly reflects what he told Complex: “Bryson Tiller is not Trapsoul. Trapsoul is Bryson Tiller. I made it, but that’s not my identity. That’s not who I am.”

Bryson Tiller is the follow-up to his 2021 holiday album, A Different Christmas, and his A N N I V E R S A R Y (Deluxe). The standard version of the latter project, released in 2020, featured Drake (“Outta Time”) and Big Sean (“Still Yours”).
