Brian McKnight Jr. Releases New Song ‘Feels Like Home’

R&B

Brian McKnight Jr., son of R&B veteran Brian McKnight, has released a new song titled “Feels Like Home,” produced by SkyHigh Music.

McKnight shows himself as a student of the R&B sound date-stamped during its golden era. He understands the sophistication of the genre and translates it beautifully in this smooth ode. The simplistic production of “Feels Like Home” relies on delicate guitar pricks, finger snaps and the soft patter of maracas.

Similarly, McKnight sang the same, both clear and relaxed, finding no need to oversing. Lyrically, he speaks about how his woman makes him feel more comfortable when he’s in her presence.

He sings, “Just look at what you started / I’m out here with my heart in my hands / Like a ’90s R&B video, dancing in the rain / Tryna be your man / Don’t care if I look foolish / Nah, I’m breaking all my rules for this.”

The track, “Feels Like Home,” comes days after the release of McKnight’s freshly released EP While We’re Still Alive. The five-track project features all-new material, none of which are the four songs released throughout the months leading to its arrival.

This past March, McKnight shared a full-length effort called This One Is For You, and You Know Who Are Are. The 10-track LP followed his 2020 album Musikhead
