Having a number-one single (“I Hate U”) at urban radio isn’t all SZA has going for herself without a recent album release. The multi-platinum superstar drew in several 2022 Grammy nominations for her work with genre-bending artist Doja Cat last year.
Being featured on Doja Cat’s hit album Planet Her gained SZA to four nominations, three of which are in the coveted general field: Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Album of the Year.
“Kiss Me More,” which peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 last July, is nominated for Record of the Year and Song of the Year. It’s SZA’s second time creating waves in those two categories for a collaboration.
In 2019, SZA scored Record and Song of the Year for “All The Stars” featuring Kendrick Lamar.
SZA’s assist on “Kiss Me More” also earned a nomination for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, giving her first song entry in this category.
Doja Cat’s Planet Her snagged SZA her first-ever Album of the Year consideration since she is credited as a featured artist.
Aside from her joint affairs with Doja Cat, SZA gained a nomination for her own work.
“Good Days,” her first top 10 solo entry on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, is up for Best R&B Song. She first became a candidate in the songwriter(s) award race for “Supermodel,” lifted from her critically acclaimed debut album, Ctrl.
The 64th Grammy Awards will take place on Sunday, April 3, 2022, at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT on CBS. Find out more about the nominations here.
In recent SZA news, Summer Walker unleashed the extended version of their Still Over It collaboration, “No Love.” The new edit features Cardi B and has a supporting video.
