Jordan Ward Releases New EP ‘Remain Calm’

R&B

Jordan Ward’s fans can now Remain Calm. The St. Louis native has released a follow-up to his 2019 project Valley Hopefuls

Ward shares writing credits on all five tracks from the bite-size release, starting with “Standards,” a clout-proof Pop & Oak production. He does his best to protect his well-being from insatiable fame chasers.

On “Lil Baby Crush,” the project’s lead single, Ward is on the fence about letting go of his ongoing infatuation with a friend he’s eyed for years. Though he’s made himself sexually available to her immediate circle, he hopes, if he lets his feelings be known, that she’ll still give him a chance.

Having someone special fall into the arms of another person hits different when it’s no turning back. Ward is dealing with this emotional plight on “Couscous,” reminiscing on that one time he got on the road with outdated tags to see this special girl.

Backed by a moody guitar and warm horns, “Thrive” is an introspective track where Ward sees himself in a bit of everyone as it relates to making mistakes in life. Instead of staying stagnant, he has his eyes on “what’s important,” which here can be the next phase of his destiny.

“Steph” is loaded with clever and cheeky punchlines, giving a nod to Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry. Ward recently dropped a VHS-style video for this track.
