Inayah Asks ‘What Are We’ on New Single

R&B

It seems as though Inayah went from “Fallin” for her love interest to questioning their situationship on her new single “What Are We.”

The melodic tune, produced by Harmony Samuels, finds Inayah asking a man to clarify the status of their relationship.

“What do we call this? / We’re just having fun / And you’ll never be my only one / What do we call this? / Friends with benefits / Don’t believe that this is nothing,” she sings in the first verse.

Inayah also released the accompanying music video, which was directed by Maliashutup. Set during the ‘20s, the cinematic clip opens with Inyah and her partner having a conversation about their relationship. The subject of the song comes to fruition as their argument heats up. When Inayah takes the stage to perform for a crowd, she dons a snazzy silver ensemble reminiscent of the outfit Whitney Houston wore in her “I Have Nothing” music video.

“What Are We” is Inayah’s second song release of the year. It follows “Fallin,” which dropped in January.

Inayah released her debut project, S.O.L.A.R., which released in 2019.
