Yola Shares New Album ‘Stand For Myself’

R&B

It’s easy to hear why Yola got a recording contract. Her bewitching voice bonded with excellent songwriting skills instantly spring up the ears of existing and new audiences, giving you reasons to explore her discography for hours.

Stand For Myself, the genre-fluid chanteuse’s latest album, is no different and expected to swarm her in a maelstrom of recognition in the near future.

Familiar sounds of vintage British pop and soul flow through the 12-track collection, resulting in top tracks such as “If I Had To Do It All Again,” a sultry reconsideration where she sees how going on a different path without a particular person wasn’t what she thought.

Another is “Diamond Studded Shoes,” a rocking blues cut that finds Yola encouraging us not to get caught up in pipe dreams of economic equality and insisting on us fighting harder to break down barriers in wealth disparities.

“The album is like a window into my mind, my life experiences, my politics, my hopeful, and sentimental sidies, and my hope for humanity at large,” Yola said in a statement.

Yola is currently supporting Stand For Myself on Chris Stapleton’s rescheduled tour, along with festival dates. Get details on full schedule and tickets here
