Kylie Frey lets go of a love that wasn’t meant to be in the new single “Wild Horses,” turning painful goodbyes into a sincere good luck.

Listen Now Wild Horses From Kylie Frey

Written by Frey with Neal Coty and Thom McHugh, the heart-pounding track arrives as a power ballad of epic emotional maturity, all about parting with no hard feelings. Through bittersweet lyrics, the Louisiana native sings of knowing the time has come for her cowboy to move on, and hoping he finds the freedom he seeks.

Produced by Trent Willmon, warm electric guitars and orchestral strings join giant sweeps of twangy steel and hard-hitting drums, as Frey fills her deep-Southern vocal with tender compassion. Pushing back against resignation and anger in favor of encouragement, she delivers a message of understanding instead, just wanting the best for someone who will always be a friend.

When asked about the song Frey explains, “This song was inspired by the first time I saw wild horses. It was a couple of years ago driving down an Arizona highway headed to open a Cody Johnson show. The horses were running along side the van showing off what true freedom looks like. It took my breath away and I’m so happy that I got to capture that emotion in a song.  I hope we all get to witness wild horses some day.”

“Wild Horses” arrives while Frey is riding high and currently serving as Texas Roadhouse’s July Artist of Month, with her songs and new “Woman Outta Love” music video playing in restaurants all across the nation.

Meanwhile, the star is also celebrating the release of a bold new duet with Red Dirt heavyweight Casey Donahew. Set to drop “Whiskey Talkin’” this Friday (7/26), the collab finds two of country’s most independently-minded stars teaming up to give a classic theme a fresh buzz, with a top shelf vocal blend on the menu. “Whiskey Talkin’” was written by Alissa Griffith and Rob Grimaldi, and will appear on Donahew’s forthcoming album release, due this fall.

“You can’t think of Texas Country without thinking of Casey Donahew!” Frey says. “I was so excited to get to sing on a song with Casey and I’m so happy it was this one. Alissa Griffith and Rob Grimaldi knocked it out of the park and I hope this song gets the recognition it deserves.”

Frey recently wrapped her run with Randall King on his coast-to-coast Into The Neon Tour, and in late August she’ll welcome the birth of her first child – no doubt a future cowboy.

In early 2024 the rising star was hailed as one of CMT’s Next Women of Country, and after a stunning appearance on the CMT Music Awards red carpet, Frey followed up with the release of “Woman Outta Love” – a devastated ballad of romantic disaster.

Other recent releases include the two-stepping “So You Think You Want a Cowboy” and the rough-and-tumble dream-chaser’s anthem “Miss Thang,” which was highlighted on Spotify’s Fresh Finds, as Frey recently celebrated her 10th #1 on The Texas Regional Radio Chart.

Stay tuned for more news as 2024 continues.
