Happy Keke Palmer Day to all who celebrate. The Keke Palmer and SZA buddy comedy that broke records and made everyone laugh out loud in the theaters is finally on Netflix. Now you can get your laughs on demand. This fresh Queen of Comedy is taking a break from making us laugh on her TikToks and Podcast to bringing her hilarity to the silver screen.

If you haven’t seen One of Them Days yet, I totally get it. There’s a lot going on right now. While I love an in-theatre experience — especially when you make friends by laughing and nudging the person sitting next to you in the theater — I get it, we’re all busy. If I had a dollar for every movie on my “to watch” list, I would be lying on an AMC recliner right now watching them all instead of working. But if the internet taught me anything this week, it’s that it’s the season of “locking in.”

That’s kind of the plot of One of Them Days, Keke Palmer and SZA’s buddy comedy that has taken over with its laugh-out-loud humor, painfully relatable plot, and star-studded cast. The film was a box office success, raking in over $51 million on a $17 million budget! And now, it’s found a second life on Netflix, where it became an instant streaming hit. With a 94% Rotten Tomatoes score, it’s being hailed as one of the funniest movies in years — proving that good, old-fashioned comedies can still dominate the cultural conversation. Especially when the stars are famous, funny, and wearing fab fits.

The dynamic duo gives us plenty to root for. Their friendship actually seems real as Keke and SZA banter like I do with my friends. The story is equally as relatable, with Vogue calling it “the Rare Buddy Comedy With Actual Stakes.” But beyond the chaotic hijinks and razor-sharp writing, one unsung star of the film is the wardrobe — which is equally real and down to earth.

When you’re telling a story about two broke besties struggling to make rent in Los Angeles, fashion plays a crucial role. Unlike the polished, aspirational wardrobes of classic rom-coms (Devil Wears Prada, Sex and the City), One of Them Days keeps it real. The costume choices reflect Dreux (Keke Palmer) and Alyssa’s (SZA) fabulous personalities and their financial realities. These are the kind of outfits that are thrown together from thrift store finds, Depop steals, and a little bit of luck — effortlessly cool, slightly chaotic, and somehow still iconic.

And while Keke and SZA were slaying designer outfits all through the press tour, their movie outfits are cute and affordable. So if you ever dreamed of dressing like Keke Palmer — which I have, ever since I was a kid watching True Jackson VP — now is your chance. Instead of taking cues from other Hollywood productions and showing “normal” characters wearing expensive designer outfits, One of Them Days doesn’t sacrifice reality for clout.

Although the entire film takes place in a single day, the costume design gives us a variety of impeccable looks, mixing Y2K nostalgia, streetwear influences, and early 2000s mall brands. If you’ve ever spent hours on Pinterest trying to perfect the “effortless hot girl” aesthetic, this movie is your holy grail.

So, if you’re looking to channel your inner Dreux or Alyssa this summer, here’s how to steal their One of Them Days wardrobe — without breaking the bank.

Keke Palmer’s Outfits as Dreux

Keke Palmer’s Dreux is the grounded girlboss of the two best friends. Her character has been dealt some tough breaks, but she has a plan, and she knows how to hustle. I see Dreux in all of my friends. She is often underestimated, but always ready to bounce back. She’s the kind of person you know is destined for big things. And you can’t wait to see it all happen for her.

But in the meantime, she’s down to earth and takes no nonsense — even when the universe doles her out challenges in spades. While she’s smart and a little shy around her crush (another relatable aspect of the film — who hasn’t been there?…), her outfits reflect her girl-next-door vibe while revealing her bold energy with statement colors, layered streetwear, and effortlessly cool throwback pieces.

Look 1: Post-Work, But Make It Cute

Dreux is defined by her work ethic. As a Capricorn myself, this is something I can admire. So, I can relate to her running from work to the next fun thing time and time again. One thing I know — it’s tough to make those transitional outfits look cute. But Dreux’s post-work fit gave me some inspo. Throw a cool jacket on, make the most of your neutrals, and add some statement jewelry And Voilà! You have a fit that works in and out of the office.

Look 2: Loungewear Chic

Things start to go downhill when Dreux tries to — for once — chillout after her night shift. A classic lazy-but-cool look, this cropped tank has the perfect mix of IDGAF energy and early 2000s nostalgia.

As a loungewear connoisseur, I simply had to recreate this simple but cool look with only a tank top, shorts, and a bright bandana. Sorry to the girls who wear matching PJ sets in the house, that’s just not me. Dreux’s look is much more my speed. Dreux’s tank top reads “WHO CARES?” The graphic slogan makes it feel very Y2K, think: Paris Hilton or Britney Spears. That’s the vibe I want, too.

Look 3: The Layered Plaid & Tank Combo

Effortlessly casual, Dreux’s outfit of choice is a cozy classic. While she spends half of the movie in a neon matching set that she is forced to borrow, this look is all her. It makes me want to embrace my grunge side and go back to wearing flannels.

Look 4: The Art Party Look

This is the ultimate cool-girl look — some denim and a statement tank. Perfect for running errands or throwing a party where you try to land a date with your crush. Dreux’s art party look will live rent-free on my mood boards.

SZA’s Outfits as Alyssa

SZA’s Alyssa is the more laid-back, dreamy best friend. While Dreux is making wild plans, Alyssa is trying to manifest a solution — and let’s be real — checking her Co-Star’s horoscope). Her wardrobe is a mix of thrifted gems, vintage sportswear, and Y2K accessories. The key is to mix and match in a way that looks effortless, cool, and slightly unhinged — but in a hot way.

SZA, of course, brings her own mystical charm to the role. And her originality, too — balancing the cool girl vibe with a girly girl aesthetic. From lace dresses to oversized cardigans, Alyssa has range. And in her acting debut, SZA proves that she also has range — for days. While we can’t get most of SZA’s IRL looks, her One of Them Days looks are just as good.

Look 1: The Vintage FUBU Jersey

A staple in early 2000s hip-hop fashion, the oversized FUBU jersey is making a major comeback. I should know — I have two. If you don’t have the patience to scour your local thrift shop, you can get similar shirts online. As Alyssa knows, a jersey tee will always make a statement. Pair it with baggy jeans or a miniskirt for that “I thrifted this before you did” aesthetic.

Look 2: An oversized cardigan and a Crystal necklace.

This look screams cool-girl-boho-meets-streetwear. The crochet cardigan adds texture, and the jade necklace is a subtle statement piece — and a good luck charm for escaping financial disasters.

While Dreux lounges in a tomboyish look, Alyssa keeps it cozy in an oversized knit — precisely my vibe. When it comes to the necklace: Pro tip — pick a gemstone that resonates with you and your goals. I love garnet because it’s my birthstone. I also love clear quartz to clear the energy in any room.

Look 3: The Lace Mini Dress

The ultimate night-out dress — or in Alyssa’s case, the perfect “rent party” dress. There’s nothing that makes me feel better like putting on some nice clothes and doing my makeup. And if it worked for Alyssa, I might as well try — after all, she is the queen of manifesting. The sheer lace trend is everywhere, from Hailey Bieber to Bella Hadid, but you don’t have to pay nearly as much as they do.

BONUS: Maude Apatow’s Outfits as Bethany

Maude Apatow plays Bethany, the well-meaning and hilarious gentrifier girl who moves into the same apartment complex as Dreux and Alyssa. Her quirky aesthetic reminds me of Portia in The White Lotus. Her aesthetic? Avante-basic with a love for nostalgia-core. One thing is for sure, I would totally go to her “Prosecco and Pals” nights.

Her outfits bend the Y2K classic aesthetic that looks like something straight out of Lizzie McGuire’s closet with the typical art school vibe. Bethany is that girl who spent $200 on Depop for a baby tee, but you can snag these for a fraction of the price. And what else to pair it with than a sweet pair of Sambas!
