Watch: The Ballad of Judas Priest Official Preview Clip

Metal

Judas Priest is worship music, I’ll just say it right now. The legends have a new, official documentary on their life story as a band, called The Ballad of Judas Priest, that’s rolling out. Its official preview clip just premiered on Rolling Stone, and you can watch it below.

The documentary itself is currently making its world premiere at the 76th Berlinale – Berlin International Film Festival, which is happening now until February 22. This first clip shows Judas Priest frontman and god Rob Halford discussing the inspiration behind their iconic anthem “Breaking the Law,” which was written in 1980 as a response to Margaret Thatcher’s rule as prime minister.

“‘Breaking The Law’ is a revolution song,” Halford says. “You’d watch the news every night and you see all this conflict going on. With the pain and the suffering of some of the British working class people. Rioting and striking because of their rage.”

You’ll get even more background into the band in the rest of the doc (obviously), which was co-directed by documentary filmmaker Sam Dunn and Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello, who is making his directorial debut with the project.

On the doc, Dunn commented:

“Super proud to announce that our Judas Priest doc ‘The Ballad Of Judas Priest’ will premiere at Berlinale – Berlin International Film Festival this February. Beyond excited for all our German metalheads to get the first look.”
