Kylie Minogue caught fans off guard at Battersea Power Station last night (Thursday November 13) by making a surprise appearance to switch on the Christmas lights.

The pop icon took to the stage to switch on a 40-foot Christmas tree in Malaysia Square, helping to illuminate the landmark’s four chimneys.

“I’m so excited, I got to have a look around today and take a trip up the chimney,” she began, saying that the light switch-on was going to “officially start Christmas” 2025 for her. “I love to be here and it’s a great thrill to see you all tonight”.

“Christmas for me is all about family, I have some family here with me tonight,” she added. “It’s taken me years to get used to the cold Christmas because I’m Australian, and Christmas is often for us about beach and a barbecue, but it’s that time of year where we get together with the loved ones and think about the year – I love it.”

Before she arrived, the Battersea Power Station Community Choir performed a medley of ‘Let It Snow’, ‘Santa Baby’ and ‘Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas’, and ahead of the countdown to the lights being turned on, Kylie took time to teach the crowd the dance to her new festive single ‘XMAS’.

That track was shared recently as one of the four new songs that will feature on the upcoming 10th anniversary edition of her ‘Kylie Christmas’ album reissue.

Kylie’s appearance marked the start of a season of celebrations at Battersea Power Station, which will also include an exclusive Christmas shop to celebrate ‘Kylie Christmas (Fully Wrapped).

Open from December 5 to December 7, the pop-up shop have limited edition vinyl, signed test presses, limited edition signed lithographs, as well as and Kylie merch like baubles, hats, scarves, limited edition Kylie Minogue Wine, and more.

After the event last night, Kylie shared: “It’s been such a magical night here at the iconic Battersea Power Station. I absolutely loved turning on the Christmas lights and seeing everyone getting into the festive spirit! I also had a sneak peek at the ‘Kylie Christmas’ pop-up and I’m so excited for everyone to discover the treats we have in store to add to their celebrations.”

Other events at Battersea Power Station include London’s only riverside ice rink, which will be open until January 4.

“Battersea Power Station is at its most magical over the festive period, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to have Kylie kick off our season of celebrations,” said Sam Cotton, Interim CEO at Battersea Power Station Development Company (BPSDC). “Her presence and energy truly captured the spirit of community and joy that defines Christmas at Battersea Power Station. We’re proud to bring people together to celebrate, explore, and make lasting memories this festive season and beyond.”

The 10th anniversary reissue of ‘Kylie Christmas’ will come with the original tracklist seen in the 2015 version, and also includes four brand-new tracks that have been recorded exclusively for the forthcoming release. Visit here to pre-order.
