Voivod is Recording a New Album, Mixing a Live Album, and Has a Video Game in the Works

Canada’s own Voivod have a lot going on lately, as they’re not only working on recording a brand new album, but they’ve got a live album in the works, a new video game being developed, and they just dropped a new music video for a classic track. So yeah, I’d say they’re busy as fuck.

According to a recent studio update from the band, they’re looking at 2026 to be an extremely productive year. Drummer Michel “Away” Langevin gave some hints as to what’s going on behind the scenes.

“We are gearing for a very exciting year in the Voivod camp, as we are working on multiple projects at once.

“We have a brand new setlist for a few tours planned in 2026, where we will play with good friends like Midnight and Bat. We are mixing the Quebec City Symphonique Live album, while recording the next studio LP. A video game by Chaosmonger Studio is in the works as well.”

That’s a lot going on, eh? The new music video in question was done for “Condemned To The Gallows (2023 Version)”, which saw the band revisiting the first song they ever wrote as a band. As the track’s name suggests, it was originally supposed to be released roughly three years ago, but the band says technical issues caused the long ass delay.

“The video was supposed to come out in 2023, but Pierre’s computer crashed and most data was lost. Pierre [Ménétrier], who also did the video ‘Planet Eaters’ for us, retrieved whatever he could and secretly salvaged the video over the last couple of years. The result is truly fantastic, so here it is. Enjoy!”

At this point, there’s no information about their new album or the live album referenced by Langevin. Still, the band has a long list of tour dates planned out. If you’d like to catch ’em live, you can do so at any of the dates listed below. Just don’t forget your tickets.
