Video Premiere: Vermilion Whiskey – “The Get Down”

Metal

Normally, Fridays are a day where I do my best to sift through new releases and blatantly show my bias for black metal and death metal. But today, let’s go for change of pace. Let’s slow down the tempo and kick up the blues with the new video from Vermilion Whiskey. If you dig the NOLA doom, stoner and sludge scene and lean a little more in the hard rock direction, you’ll definitely get down to “The Get Down.” There’s definitely a lot of familiar pleasures here for fans of Down, Deliverance-era COC, and subtle hints of heavier bands like Crowbar and Tad.

It’s the kind of music that makes you want a strong drink (preferably a Sazerac) and an excuse to bang your head. The song has riffs for days, and the no-nonsense makes you want to party with band and their crew. Here’s how the band describes the song:

“”The Get Down” is as true Southern-fried rock n’ roll as it gets. This track is for the folks back home. A testament to the Cajun way of life, love and the pursuit of absolute happiness, and tells the story of why Vermilion Whiskey is straight up, unapologetic, south Louisiana rock n’ roll at its finest.”

“The Get Down” comes from the band’s latest album Crimson & Stone, which came out back in May. Check out the video below:
