Chicago noise rock duo Latter are new to the scene but the group is poised to make a splash with their potent, impactful brand of heavy, discordant rock and thoughtful presentation. They released first single “Callous” last month (watch the video here) and now they’ve released their second, “I Don’t Owe You,” which you can watch below.
Staring off with a sedated bass line and guitarist/vocalist Meredith Haines’ vocals, building into a noisy performance marked by a lively performance from drummer Jon Alvardo and Haines’ expressive screams. It’s the second single from their forthcoming debut album, My Body is My Sickness. The accompanying video is shot in a found-footage horror style and nails the retro, Blair Witch Project aesthetic.
“This song deals with being hopelessly in love with the wrong person, and the agony that comes with the acceptance, moving on and standing in your worth,” Haines tells Decibel. “It’s an obituary of a failed relationship and a testament to being haunted by someone.”
