Video Premiere: Gotho – ‘First Fight in Planet Disco Dance’

Metal

Italian genre weirdos Gotho—featuring keyboardist Fabio Cuomo, known for his collaborations with bands like Elder—combine elements of heaviness, progressive rock and dance music on their newest release, Gothron Versus Fartark. A conceptual album that tells the story of a clash between the album’s two titular figures, Gothron Versus Fartark is an album you won’t soon forget.

For the latest preview of the album, Gotho have debuted the live studio performance for “First Fight in Planet Disco Dance,” which somehow nearly exactly replicates the in-studio recording of the song. Driven by bright, twisting synths and an extremely lively drum performance, Gotho demonstrate their musical tightness and creativity.

“In ‘First Fight In Planet Disco Dance,’ Gothron and Fartark clash for the first time, with Gothron suffering defeat,” Gotho tell Decibel. “The track opens with a slow-paced ‘metal’ section, setting the tension and weight of this epic confrontation. From here, it shifts into a sparse, spacey atmosphere, evoking the barren, alien landscape where the battle takes place. The climax comes with an explosive dive into ‘disco music,’ a surprising and energetic twist that pays homage to the planet hosting the fight, blending the pulse of dance with the epic stakes of the battle.”

Check it out below; Gothron Versus Fartark is out on November 15 via Supernatural Cat, the label operated by members of Italian psychedelic metal outfit Ufomammut.
