Usher’s single “Good Good” featuring Summer Walker and 21 Savage slides to No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart for the week dated Nov. 18.
The R&B superstar now has eight No. 1s on the Adult R&B chart, tying with Bruno Mars, Tank, Maxwell, and Kem for the second-most among male artists. Charlie Wilson leads with nine.
Alicia Keys holds the Adult R&B Airplay record for the most No. 1s by any artist, with a total of 14.
“Good Good,” produced by Mel & Mus, is Usher’s second Adult R&B No. 1 this year, following “GLU,” which spent two weeks at the top.
Keys and Usher, who have collaborated before, are the only two artists to have reached No. 1 on the Adult R&B Airplay chart twice this year. They have also topped the R&B radio chart consecutively this year.
“GLU” spent a week at No. 1 on R&B radio in June, while “Good Good” topped the airplay format this week. Usher is the only artist this year so far to top urban, rhythmic, and R&B radio with the same song, achieving a rare feat.
“Good Good” has achieved No. 1 success on more than one Billboard chart. Upon its Aug. 4 release, the song initially reached the summit on R&B Digital Song Sales and later on R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay and Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay charts.
Furthermore, “Good Good” gives Walker her third No. 1 and 21 Savage his first No. 1 on the Adult R&B Airplay list.
Spotify listeners have streamed “Good Good” 19.8 million times, a 5% increase since our last report.
“Good Good” is the lead single from Usher’s upcoming ninth album, Coming Home, set to release Feb. 11, 2024. The album will be released through his mega label with L.A. Reid, in partnership with Larry Jackson’s gamma.
“We’ve put a lot of thought and creativity into this new album to tell a story that is open to interpretation and that will connect with people in different ways,” said Usher. “I know this has been a long time coming for my fans and what I’ll say is that all good things come to those who wait. I hope you enjoy it once you hear it.”
Usher will headline Apple Music’s Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on the same day that Coming Home will be released.
Coming Home is the follow-up to Usher’s 2016 album, Hard II Love, which included the singles “No Limit” featuring Young Thug and “Missin U.”
In recent news, Usher has tied with Summer Walker and SZA for the most nominations at the 2023 Soul Train Awards, with nine. The ceremony airs Sunday, Nov. 26, at 8 p.m. ET on BET and BET Her.
