Usher stakes his claim atop another radio chart. His single “Good Good,” featuring Summer Walker and 21 Savage, slides from No. 2 to No. 1 on rhythmic radio.
The Mel & Mus-produced track is Usher’s first time topping this format since 2016 when he was featured on Chris Brown’s hit “Party” with Gucci Mane. That collaboration appears on Brown’s album, Heartbreak on a Full Moon.
Rhythmic radio isn’t the only format where “Good Good” has reached No. 1.
The song also claimed the top spot on urban radio for one week in September. At this publishing, it’s No. 5 on the latter airplay format.
Also at radio this week, “Good Good” lands at No. 3 on R&B and No. 22 on Mainstream Top 40.
“Good Good” was initially released in August as Usher’s second single release of the year.
It was later confirmed, after the announcement of his Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show performance, that the collaboration would be the official lead single from his upcoming ninth album titled Coming Home.
On Spotify, “Good Good” has garnered over 16 million streams. Meanwhile, the official video has been viewed more than 17 million times on YouTube.
Moreover, after its release, “Good Good” secured the top spot on several Billboard charts, including Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay and R&B Digital Song Sales.
Usher’s next album, Coming Home, is set to release on Feb. 11, 2024, via his mega imprint with L.A. Reid in partnership with Larry Jackson’s gamma label.
In an interview with Zane Lowe of Apple Music, Usher revealed that the title of his album is a “love letter” to the legacy of his career.
“I’ve been coming home in a lot of different ways. The choice of music and reconnection to some of the people that I’ve worked with from my past. And I always wanted to work with writers that I’ve actually made hit number one records with,” Usher explained.
He added, “In a sense, I’m coming home because I’m in that comfortable space. When you’re at home, you’re comfortable. When you’re at home, you feel connected, elevate, rise and inspire.”
