Ty Dolla $ign Releases New EP Girl Music Vol. 1

R&B

Ty Dolla $ign has returned with his new projectGirl Music Vol. 1 via Atlantic Records.

Preceded by the Leon Thomas-assisted “Miss U 2,” the six-track set hears Dolla $ign returning to his R&B-centric roots. The raspy-voiced artist said the project’s concept was born from a dinner conversation in New York City.

“The DJ at the restaurant was playing all the right music and it got us thinking about the music that girls really want to hear,” said Ty Dolla $ign. “Everything about this project has been organic and natural. From the name of the project to the song selection and sequence to the collaborators, it all just fell into place.”

He continued, “This project was a natural return back to my musical sound, back to performing with a live band; my real R&B vibes. This is really some of my favorite music I’ve made in a long time. And this is only volume one.”

Girl Musicincludes additional collaborations with Ronald Isley and Brandy. Isley appears on the opening track, “Nobody Has to Know,” which interpolates his 1995 collaboration with R. Kelly, “Down Low (Nobody Has to Know).”

Brandy is featured on “Intention,” which Ty Dolla $ign co-produced with Camper. On the finger-snapping piano ballad, Ty and Brandy trade verses that gauge whether their feelings are mutual. “Tell me now, what’s your intention? / Oh, is it mine or not?” they harmonize in the chorus.

“3 Billion,” another highlight, takes inspiration from Timbaland‘s ’90s production and pairs it with the slick sounds of the early 2000s. “You’ve been lookin’ for love in all the wrong places / It can’t be yours, but I might let you taste it / Three billion girls in the world, is you crazy?” he sings.

Girl Music Vol. 1 is the follow-up to Ty Dolla $ign’s 2025 album,Tycoon. The LP included collaborations with Leon Thomas, Chlöe, Lil Wayne, Quavo, Juicy J and more.

“This album is for everyone that has dreams and goals,” Ty explained. “For everyone who goes to a job every day and works their ass off, but knows they have way more to offer to the world. Put yourself out there and do it. Take that leap of faith. Push yourself outside of what’s comfortable. Dream big and believe in yourself. TYCOON is a state of mind.”
