Turnstile tease huge announcement and new band member with billboards

Rock

Turnstile have something in the works it seems, as new billboards have been spotted in Los Angeles. Check it out below.

New signage for the band appeared on Sunset Boulevard overnight, and has teased fans with an upcoming announcement that is on the way.

On the billboards, a message reads: “Never Enough Turnstile’ and written underneath is the date June 6. It is not yet clear what the announcement is geared towards, nor is it clear if June indicates the date that more details will be shared or the day when the mysterious release will be available.

Another new piece of information was shared via the billboards too, with a new photo of the band showing that they are back to being a five-piece. This comes following guitarist Brady Ebert departing from the line-up in 2022, and according to the new photo it seems like touring guitarist Meg Mills has joined the band full-time.

At time of writing, it isn’t clear what the band are gearing up for, although based on the billboards it seems likely that they are hinting at a new album – which will mark the long-anticipated follow-up to 2021’s ‘GLOW ON’.

If that is the case, June 6 could be the official release date and fans could expect to see more details about the album and potentially some singles ahead of then.

In the time since the last LP, Turnstile teamed up with BADBADNOTGOOD in 2023 for a collaborative EP titled ‘New Heart Designs’. They also debuted a new song called ‘Listening’ as part of the third season of I Think You Should Leave earlier that year.

While little is known about the upcoming plans for Turnstile, the band do have a busy few months of touring ahead of them, including two huge UK live shows. Last November, it was confirmed that the members would be playing an exclusive show at the LIDO London branch of Outbreak festival. This will see them take to the stage alongside Alex G, Danny Brown, Drug Church, Feeble Little Horse, Fleshwater, Have A Nice Life, Julie and Knocked Loose.

In late June the band will also be making a stop at Glastonbury 2025. They join headliners Neil Young, The 1975 and Olivia Rodrigo, as well as other big names including Biffy Clyro, The Maccabees, Lucy Dacus, Father John Misty, RAYE, Wolf Alice, The Prodigy, Doechii, St. Vincent, Deftones, Scissor Sisters, The Libertines, Wet Leg, Weezer, AJ Tracey, Nile Rodgers & Chic, Future Islands, JADE, TV On The Radio, Self Esteem, CMAT, Blossoms and Jorja Smith.

International festival appearances include a slot at France’s HellFest 2025 alongside Linkin Park, KoRn, Muse, Scorpions and Knocked Loose and Primavera Sound Porto, which will also see sets from Charli XCX, Deftones, Fontaines D.C.Central Cee, Jamie xx, Beach House, Haim, Michael Kiwanuka. The band shared their views on playing festivals with NME after appearing on Glastonbury’s John Peel Stage in 2022, with frontman Brendan Yates saying: “I think maybe there’s a subconscious way of just adapting to wherever you’re at, be it a room with 50 people or a big festival: you’re always going to do exactly what you do and be exactly who you are.

“I don’t know if that’s a particular thing [we do], but it’s maybe more of a subconscious search for the ways to connect the most.”

Talking about finding more fans in recent years, he added: “The ability to reach whoever might be looking for our music, and seeing that happen, is always an amazing feeling. Since we’ve been able to play live again, the opportunities we’ve been blessed with to play for so many new people.

“I think playing music, no matter who you ask, it’s always an exciting opportunity, especially to never feel like you’re doing the same thing [and that] you’re always constantly growing. That doesn’t necessarily mean the size [of a crowd], but more so growing as far as challenging yourself, putting yourself in new scenarios and taking your opportunities to grow moving forward.”
