Track Premiere: Moros – “Peeling Off Leeches”

Metal

And the gnarliest song title this week goes to Philly death metal grunt mob Moros, whose new track, “Pulling Off Leeches,” we’re, uh, bloody thrilled to premiere. The trio of Jason Dost (guitar/vocals), John Hauser (bass/vocals) and Mike Howard (drums) pair their revolting song title with equally gut-churning sludgy DM and ranting-lunatic vocals that sound like they were recorded at the bottom of a fucking well, which was no doubt swimming with leeches…

The new track comes from the band’s upcoming four-song EP, Recrudescent Horror, which was engineered and mixed by Jeff Barow at Barowtone Studios in Philadelphia during Spring/Summer 2024, and mastered by A.P. at MSK01. It’s set for release on cassette and digitally on March 7 via Knife Hits Records. Place your preorder here.

Guitarist/vocalist Jason Dost had this to say about the track:

“‘Peeling Off Leeches’ is one of the first new songs we worked on with our new drummer Mike. John brought in some really slimy riffs for this one and lyrically it’s a wretched tale about being engulfed by deadly leeches while in the midst of jungle warfare, leading to a horrifying and suffocating demise.”
