Track Premiere: Cultic – ‘Seduced’

Metal

Hailing from the backwoods of Pennsylvania, Cultic make music that alludes to high fantasy sword-and-sorcery tales—King Arthur, Conan the Barbarian and Red Sonja. They call it battle punk or dark dungeon metal, both of which seem to be alternate ways to describe funeral doom without the length.

Their new single “Seduced” runs under five minutes in length and features a lengthy, cinematic dungeon synth intro before the proper song begins. If bands like Thergothon, Skepticism and Mournful Congregation are your jam, listen to Cultic’s “Seduced” below. You can pre-order the Seducer EP via the Bandcamp link below.

“We wrote ‘Seduced’ as a follow-up to ‘Seducer’ (because where there exists a seducer, one cannot escape being Seduced)!” says guitarist and vocalist Brian Magar. “On the surface, the song is about succumbing to seduction, but on a deeper level, it’s about having control taken away from you. My favorite line from the song says it all, ‘Wicked are the chains that keep you bound.’”
