Tool Announce 30th Anniversary Reimagining of “Opiate” Track and Video

For many fans, 1992’s Opiate changed everything by introducing the world at large to progressive metallers Tool. And now, the band have decided to honor that EP’s influence with the release of a 30th anniversary edition of the title track and video in the form of a short film.

The new version of the song is titled “Opiate2,” and will be accompanied by a short film directed by Dominic Hailstone. The movie will come as a Blu-Ray DVD housed in a 46-page art book featuring behind-the-scenes and making-of photos, interviews, and insights from guests. What exactly the visuals of the new video will look like remains to be seen, but we can only hope they involve Maynard dancing with an overweight woman.

Tool’s new edition of Opiate will be available via DSPs on March 1, with the Blu-ray-only visual companion available on due out on March 18. Check out photos of the booklet below, and catch Tool at one of their upcoming tour dates:
