TLC has achieved a new milestone on Spotify.
Their 1999 hit “No Scrubs” has surpassed one billion streams on the streaming service. It’s the legendary R&B group’s first song to reach the billions club on Spotify.
“No Scrubs,” co-written by Kandi Burruss, Tameka “Tiny” Cottle and Kevin Briggs, was the lead single from TLC’s third album, FanMail. The song spent four weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Furthmore, “No Scrubs” spent 10 weeks at No. 1 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart
FanMail debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 318,000 copies sold and spent five weeks atop the chart.
At the 42nd Grammy Awards, “No Scrubs” won Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocal and FanMail was crowned Best R&B Album.
On Monday night (April 1), TLC performed “No Scrubs” and “Waterfalls” at the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards. Rapper Latto joined T-Boz and Chilli on stage for “Waterfalls” to perform Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes’ iconic verse.
At the ceremony, hosted by Ludacris, TLC was honored with a Landmark Award, which “recognizes artists’ album releases that have inspired and shaped culture over multiple decades.”
