The Shindellas — the New American Soul group consisting of Kasi, Stacy and Tamara — have achieved their first chart entry on Billboard.
Their single “Last Night Was Good for My Soul” debuts at No. 25 this week on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart. It’s nestled between Chris Brown’s “Under the Influence” (No. 24) and Cuhdeejah’s “Energy” (No. 26).
“Last Night,” co-written and co-produced by Louis York (Claude Kelly and Chuck Harmony), is the lead single from the trio’s upcoming project.
It will follow their 2021 debut album, Hits That Stick Like Grits, which included tracks such as “Fear Has No Place,” “When You’re Lonely” and “Volcano Love.”
Hits That Stick Like Grits was ranked No. 2 on Rated R&B’s 30 Best R&B Albums of 2021 list. The album was described as “delicious” and “slow-cooked to perfection.”
The Shindellas most recently performed at the 2023 Black Music Honors, taped earlier this month. They performed a tribute to Evelyn “Champagne” King, who was honored with the R&B Music Icon Award.
The ceremony will air Saturday, June 3, at 8 p.m. ET on The Stellar Network, with national broadcast syndication from June 10 through July 2. It will also air on Bounce TV on June 19.
Up next, The Shindellas will perform at the Promise Land Music & Arts Festival on June 3 in Charlotte, Tennessee.
