The Cavalera Brothers Mourn Their Mother’s Passing

Metal

In a bit of sad news, Max and Igor Cavalera announced that their mother, Vania Cavalera, passed away. She was 80 years old.

They shared the news via social media, revealing their family’s loss. Vania was the mother of three children, Max, Igor, and Kira, whose family eventually grew in recent years to include 14 grandchildren.

“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our matriarch Vania Cavalera. Vania’s greatest joy in life was raising and loving her three children Max, Igor, and Kira, and being Vovó to her fourteen grandchildren.

“Our family asks for privacy during this difficult time of grief and as we honor our mother’s wishes and her legacy by continuing to celebrate her 80-year-long journey of love, strength, spirituality and metal.”

It’s never easy to lose a loved one, let along a parental figure. Sadly, we all will experience what the Cavaleras are going through, so with that in mind, we at MetalSucks wish to offer our condolences to Max, Igor, and the entire Cavalera family. Losing such an integral part of ones’ family isn’t easy by any stretch, so we wish them all the comfort in the world as they deal with the loss.

The news comes just days before the Brazilian metal icons were set to release the re-recorded version of Sepultura’s Bestial Devastation and Morbid Visions on July 14 via Nuclear Blast Records. The pair are slated to go on tour next month, with dates all throughout North America. You can check out those dates below, including a performance at the first ever Metal Injection Festival.
