Teyana Taylor’s ‘Rose In Harlem’ Now Certified Gold

R&B

Teyana Taylor continues her annual sweep of singles awards from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

Her 2018 track “Rose In Harlem” has been certified gold with more than 500,000 equivalent units sold. It marks Taylor’s second certified release this year behind the Wu-Tang Clan-assisted remix of “Gonna Love Me,” which also is now gold.

“Rose In Harlem” extends Taylor’s collection of singles awards for her sophomore album, Keep That Same Energy (K.T.S.E.), which celebrated its fifth anniversary this year.

At this time, this hip-hop soul track is the fourth song from K.T.S.E. to achieve an RIAA certification, with “Gonna Love Me” being the best-seller.

The original version of the latter track advanced to platinum status in January 2021, selling more than one million equivalent units.

Throughout her career, Taylor has earned a total of eight RIAA singles awards, which have been spread across her three albums: VII (2014), K.T.S.E. (2018) and The Album (2020).

Taylor’s most recent award for The Album was “Bare With Me,” which achieved gold status in September 2022. Her only accolade thus far from the Vll era is for “Maybe,” a track featuring Pusha T and Yo Gotti, which is also certified gold.

It has been three years since Taylor released new music. She entered retirement following the arrival of The Album, which was among Rated R&B’s 30 Best R&B Albums of 2020

Apart from her solo music career, Taylor has been keeping herself occupied by working as a creative director for various artists such as Summer Walker, Latto, and most recently, Lil Baby.

Even though she isn’t releasing new music, she remains booked for live shows. On July 29, Taylor headlines night two of the Harlem Festival of Culture at Randall’s Island Park in New York City. Tickets are available for that show and the entire three-day affair.

In August, Taylor serves as a special guest at the rescheduled Sol Blume Festival
