Pop-soul singer Teddy Swims has teamed with R&B sensation GIVĒON for his new single “Are You Even Real.”

The dreamy ballad hears the crooners singing about a love that’s so magical that they wonder if it’s all in their imagination. “Are you even real / Or did I make you up? / How could someone like you / Wanna give it up? / Don’t think I deserve it / But I can’t get enough,” Swims sings in the opening verse.

GIVĒON comes in for the second verse, singing, “You never do too much / Somehow, you’re still enough for me / I can still feel the rush / Even when you slow-dance for me / Lookin’ at you layin’ right there / Are from this world? I swear.”

“I’m in love with a perfect woman and I am so lucky that sometimes it feels too good to be true!” says Swims, who recently shared he and his partner, R&B singer Raiche, are expecting their first child together.

He continues, “I’m so grateful to have my dear friend GIVĒON on ‘Are You Even Real’ with me! He is a once in a generation talent, I’m trying to get this man to do a whole record with me!”

GIVĒON adds, “This song came together in such a natural way and it shows. The music, the lyrics, Teddy, and myself. It’s one that makes you replay it over and over. Excited to finally share it with the world.”

“Are You Even Real” will appear on Swims’ new album, I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy (Part 2), which releases Jan. 24 via Warner Records. The album will also include the previously shared tracks “Funeral” and “Bad Dreams.”

I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy (Part 2) will also feature additional collaborations with Muni Long, Coco Jones, and GloRilla

Swims’ upcoming project is the sequel to his 2023 debut album, I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy (Part 1), which included his breakout hit “Lose Control.” The soul-barring track reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and Adult R&B Airplay charts and has amassed over three billion global streams.

Regarding “Lose Control,” Swims explained, “Being in love can be like an addiction sometimes — always chasing the highs from the lows. It’s about losing yourself and losing control when it all starts to cave in and thinking that the only way out is through being with that person, chasing that feeling over and over again.”

As for Part 1, he noted, “My debut album is an honest look into my mental health journey. It is my first step towards being vulnerable about this journey and the steps I need to take to heal.”

In 2024, Swims released Part 1.5, an expanded version of his debut album that featured four additional tracks. “These songs represent where I’m at and I didn’t want to wait till I had the whole Part 2 done — so here you go,” he stated.

The Georgia-born singer is nominated for Best New Artist at the 2025 Grammy Awards, which takes place Sunday, Feb. 2, in Los Angeles.

Outside of his own music, Swims recently joined Thomas Rhett on his single “Somethin’ ‘Bout A Woman” and Lucky Daye on “Blame” from his album Algorithm.

GIVĒON hasn’t released solo music since his rendition of “The First Noel” in 2023. Before that, he released his debut album, Give Or Take, which was highlighted on Rated R&B’s Best R&B Albums of 2022 list. In 2024, he collaborated with Afrobeats sensation Ayra Starr on “Last Heartbreak Song” from her album The Year I Turned 21.
