When choosing godparents for your kids, it’s a serious matter. You have to pick a trustworthy person to take custody of your kids should anything happen to you. These are thoughts that ran through Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds’ heads when they were selecting godparents for their little ones.
And they chose Taylor Swift to be the godmother for all three of their daughters! Since Taylor and Blake are no longer on the friendliest terms, what does that mean in regard to Taylor’s role as godmother?
Taylor didn’t technically “unfriend” Blake on Instagram because she never followed anyone to begin with. But lately, she has chosen to distance herself from Blake in real life.

Will Taylor Continue to Be a Godmother to Blake’s Daughters?
Ryan Reynolds outright confirmed Taylor’s role in his family during a November 2024 interview with Deadline. Reynolds confirmed that “she’s the godparent to my daughters.”
As a reminder, Blake and Ryan share three lovely girls named – James, Inez, and Betty. Their son, Olin, wasn’t mentioned in the convo, which leads us to believe he potentially has a different godparent.
Before this drama, Taylor took her role as a godmother in stride – even referencing her godkids in an Instagram Story post where she also praised Ryan for his work in Deadpool & Wolverine.
Now that things are dicey between Blake and Taylor, will Taylor continue serving as a godmother to the girls? As of this publication, Taylor has remained tightlipped about it.
One thing we know for sure? Even though there might be drama between Taylor and Blake, the children have not been caught up in the chaos. That being said, these kiddos shouldn’t have to suffer the consequences of their mom’s friendship drama.

She initially accused Justin of sexual harassment on set, and she’s now accusing him of running a smear campaign against her. Their lawsuit gets messier and messier by the minute. Unfortunately for Taylor, she was dragged into this toxic swamp when she was name-dropped in the lawsuit! In response, a source told Page Six that Taylor is “taking a break from their friendship right now.”
They went on to say, “Taylor is really hurt by this whole situation and feels like a pawn… Taylor wants nothing to do with this whole ordeal. She has always been a loyal friend to Blake and doesn’t appreciate being thrown into this at all.”
No one ever imagined Taylor and Blake would take a friendship hiatus. What about all the girls’ nights out and the cutesy hangout sessions they enjoyed together? Who could forget when they were spotted at the 2024 Super Bowl? Their friendship was at an all-time high back then!
Based on pics from the game, they were vibing and having a blast. The blondes were living their best lives. But by the time the 2025 Super Bowl rolled around, Blake was nowhere to be seen near Taylor’s game-watching suite.
