Fresh off his entire catalog finally being made available on streaming services, Tank was awarded an honorary Doctor of Philosophy in Musical Arts from Harvest Christian University over the weekend.
The R&B general shared the celebratory news on his Instagram, writing, “I am a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Musical Arts!!! Thank you, Harvest Christian University, for this honor!!” He also thanked his university’s provost and professor Jonathan Robinson.
Earlier this month, Blackground Records 2.0 and EMPIRE added his first studio albums to streaming services, bringing his LP total to nine.
In June, Tank scored a number one single on R&B radio and Billboard Adult R&B Airplay charts for “Can’t Let It Show,” the latest from his much teased tenth album. He previously had a role in the Lifetime film Lust: A Seven Deadly Sins Story alongside Keri Hilson.
He also spoke to Rated R&B about writing Aaliyah’s “I Can Be” from her self-titled 2001 album.
