Summer Walker Scores Over 30 New RIAA Certifications

R&B

Before Summer Walker’s CLEAR 2: Soft Life EP drops later this week, the singer receives 33 new awards from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

Walker’s 2018 single “Girls Need Love” is now certified 5x multi-platinum with more than five million copies sold.

The breakout song is Walker’s best-selling single and holds the title as the most certified-song release from her debut project, Last Day of Summer, which just topped the gold mark for sales, surpassing 500,000 equivalent units sold.

Walker’s other Last Day of Summer platinum awards include: “Deep” (platinum); “CPR” (platinum); and “Karma” (platinum).

The latter track became a sleeper hit, thanks to a TikTok boost last summer. “Karma” is No. 3 at urban radio at the time of publication.

Playing Games,” the lead single from Walker’s 2019 debut album, Over It, is now 4x multi-platinum.

The song marked her first Hot 100 entry in September 2019, eventually peaking at No. 16 a month later. It also earned Walker a top 10 hit among several R&B/hip-hop-centric charts.

Walker’s first album, Over It, last certified at platinum in May 2020, has been upped to 2x multi-platinum. It’s Walker’s highest-selling project to date.

“My Affection” with PARTYNEXTDOOR and “White Tee” with NO1-NOAH are newly gold certified. Both tracks appear on Walker’s Life On Earth EP, released in July 2020.

Walker gained a platinum award for her debut song, “Session 32,” released in 2018. She also scored a gold certification for her 2019 standalone single “Something Real” featuring Chris Brown and London On Da Track.
