Summer Walker Covers Marvin Gaye’s ‘I Want to Come Home for Christmas’ for Amazon Music

R&B

Hot on the heels of her sophomore album Still Over It, Summer Walker has shared a pleasant rendition of Marvin Gaye’s “I Want to Come Home for Christmas” as part of the Amazon Original series.

“Having the opportunity to honor a legend like Marvin Gaye and cover his Christmas song is special to me,” Walker said in a statement.

She isn’t the only R&B act to remake a holiday staple by Gaye for Amazon Music this season. Recently, Leon Bridges took on the soul icon’s “Purple Snowflakes” and exclusively spoke to Rated R&B about his choice to modernize it.

Back on Walker, she appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, to give the TV debut of “Unloyal” from Still Over It. Days before the performance, she issued the sequel to 2019’s Over It, featuring numerous artists like Ciara, SZA, Cardi B, Omarion, and others.
