Spirit Halloween Is Transforming Into Spirit Christmas This Year

Country

Spirit Halloween is getting into a new spirit this year — the Christmas spirit.

The retail popup has announced plans to test out a Christmas-themed store, aptly called Spirit Christmas.

Similar to its spooky counterpart, the jolly new concept will occupy vacant buildings across the nation to bring shoppers everything they could possibly need for the holiday season.

Where Are the Spirit Christmas Stores Opening?

The plan is to open 10 Spirit Christmas locations in 2024.

According to their website, the stores are primarily in the Northeast part of the country in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.

And for one location, you won’t have to wait until after Halloween to shop: The Mays Landing, N.J. location will open on Oct. 18, with the rest unwrapping their doors in early November.

Spirit Christmas promises “aisles full of Christmas magic,” as well as photos with Santa.

What Is Spirit Halloween?

As the largest Halloween retailer in the country, Spirit Halloween operates more than 1,500 locations. The first store opened in 1983 with the goal of giving shoppers everything they needed for the holiday: Costumes, decorations, party supplies and more.

Spirit Halloween operates as a temporary store. Each year the retailer opens up shop in vacant storefronts across the nation, almost like a zombie coming back to life.

Recently Saturday Night Live created a parody skit about Spirit Halloween’s business model. The store fired back at the show on social media by creating a faux costume called “Irrelevant 50-Year-Old TV Show.”
