Single Review: Alexis Marrero “Wake Me Up”

Music, Pop, Rock

Rising superstar Alexis Marrero has recently released her hauntingly dark anthemic song “Wake Me Up.” The song powerfully brings forth anguish and strife throughout the track providing insight into a bad relationship, an experience often familiar to most. Alexis shows a vulnerability while her other songs are more on an inspirational wavelength.

Her career started at age 16, and she has released singles including “Something That I Missed”, and “Rich AF.” Alexis has taken over Sweety High’s Instagram story, modeledfor Charlotte’s Closet’s Virtual Fashion Show, and began her own “Quarantine Concert Fridays”, where she performed free concerts for her fans on Instagram live and started a charity event called “Saving Our Holidays Extravaganza.” Their influencers, singers and dancers collaborated to raise money for the Salvation Army‘s Rescuing Christmas.

Alexis is a self-taught musician with a special gift. Aside from her Pop/R&B, singer and songwriting abilities, she has the ability to be inspirational, and to make people like her without any effort through her songs. It is almost as if she is on a spiritual quest, and God himself propels her chariot of fire. Her songs often transcend the physical senses as does “Wake Me Up” where you can feel her pain but yet recognize her as an incredibly talented singer and songwriter.
