Man, Sepultura‘s current tour with Crowbar and Sacred Reich has been fraught for a while now. First, Sacred Reich frontman Phil Rind was hospitalized with a non-COVID-related illness, forcing his band to miss several shows on the trek. Now, it’s been revealed that Sepultura drummer Eloy Casagrande has broken his leg, and will have to miss the final four dates on the tour.
Casagrande issued the following statement regarding his injury, alongside X-ray photos, in a since-deleted post via his Instagram. You can find a screenshot of the post below, via Blabbermouth.
“It is with deep sadness that I announce that I have unfortunately broken my right leg. Yesterday, at the El Paso show, during the break between songs I ended up falling off the stage and fracturing my tibia and fibula. I’m going back to Brazil to start the recovery. I’ll see you soon! The tour will continue, but without me. More news coming soon. I ask for your support.”
On the one hand, that’s a huge bummer, and we wish Eloy all the best. On the other, we wonder why the posts were deleted. Like, the dude broke his leg, he has to miss some dates — is that a problem? Then again, the Internet is the Internet, so maybe a million assholes started harassing him over it for some stupid reason. Who knows?
In any event, we wish Eloy a speedy recovery, and will be interested to see who takes over his slot on the remaining dates of this trek.
