Roman Candle Split with Bassist Due to Growing Sex Assault and Domestic Abuse Allegations

It didn’t take long for 2024 to pop off with some domestic abuse allegations and the ensuing backlash, did it? Earlier today, the Las Vegas-based hardcore band Roman Candle announced that they were cutting ties with their then bassist Nico Borgia after domestic abuse and sexual assault allegations began making the rounds online.

At about 12:30 p.m. EST, the band came out with a statement saying they were aware of the situation and that they’d taken the aforementioned steps to remove Borgia from their lineup.

“Yesterday we became aware of allegations of domestic abuse and sexual assault by a former partner of our bassist, Nico.

“In light of these allegations, we have all decided to part ways with Nico. We were aware the relationship was unhealthy but not to the extent of what has been shared.

“We hope it goes without saying that we do not condone abuse in any form, but we want to take the opportunity to reiterate that here. If you or someone you know is experiencing abuse or silently suffering through domestic violence, please contact The National Domestic Violence Hotline immediately: www.thehotline.org./ 800-799-7233 Hotline for Las Vegas specifically: +17752217600

“We are making a donation to The National Domestic Violence hotline in the amount of $2,500 to help survivors. This is an issue we have never and will never take lightly.

According to the allegations leveled against Borgia, video evidence exists of him attacking his significant other. The accuser online said they showed the rest of the band the video, but nothing was ever done to address the issue.

As far as the accusations go, an Instagram user’s Stories shows detailed photos, conversations, the whole nine about why these allegations were made in the first place, as well as what they describe as a systematic effort by the band to not address the issue.

To that end, vocalist Piper Ferrari stated that there was “misinformation” out there regarding the situation and that she’d never personally seen the allegations before because the person making the allegations had Ferrari, “Jonas, Bryson, and literally every single person we associate with blocked for over a year.” She also said the following:

Roman Candle are currently scheduled to go on tour with Militarie Gun from February 26 to March 9. Their spot on the tour so far has not been jeopardized as a result of what’s going on.
