RIP Rick Froberg of Drive Like Jehu

Eric “Rick” Froberg, most known for his roll as lead guitarist of Drive Like Jehu, passed away last night.

Froberg was also known a visual artist and was well-known by creatives in the San Diego scene. His bandmade, guitarist John Reis, shared the news on social media.

Reis says:

“Rick passed away suddenly last night from natural causes. His art made life better. The only thing he loved more than art and rock n roll was his friends. He will forever be remembered for his creativity, vision and his ability to bring beauty into this world. I love you, Rick. I will miss you for the rest of my life.”

In addition to drive Like Jehu, Froberg was known for his work in bands Pitchfork and Hot Snakes, as well as Last of the Juanitas, Thingy, and Obits. He also created album and other artwork and designs for bands and labels including Rocket from the Crypt and Swami Records.

During his career, Froberg also worked under pen names such as Rick Fork and Rick Farr. Before his death, he was seen posting about socials over his excitement at working on a new Hot Snakes record.
