Emerging R&B singer and songwriter RAAHiiM has returned with his new album, BUT IF iiM HONEST, the follow-up to his 2020 debut, ii KNEW BETTER.
In addition to RAAHiiM, the album includes production by dvsn’s Ninenteen85 (Drake, Nicki Minaj), Vinylz (Chris Brown, Jamie Foxx), Yogi (Victoria Monét, Diddy), Luca (Mariah Carey, Bryson Tiller), and more.
Sprawling over 30 minutes, BUT IF iiM HONEST takes listeners on RAAHiiM’s introspective journey where he reevaluates his dependencies (“No More Drugs”), steers through love’s woes (“Friend Zone”), deals with isolation (“Lonely”) and reflects on the good days (“2007”).
“1000 Lives” is another highlight on the album, showcasing RAAHiiM’s alt-pop side. “You can’t keep drinking all night just to wonder where your day goes,” he sings over blazing electric guitar riffs and syncopated handclaps.
Regarding BUT IF iiM HONEST, RAAHiiM explains to Rated R&B, “A lot of this album, I explore my displacement with love and life overall, based on the time we’re in and just the challenges that come with it as I get older.”
Ahead of the album’s release, the Toronto native dropped four tracks: “Spin the Block,” “Outside Freestyle,” “Too Good” and “Famous (Lost to LA).”
Solo music aside, he teamed with Shantel May on Rory’s 2022 track “Not Me” from his compilation album, I Thought I’d Be Different, which dropped this May.
