Platinum-selling singer Queen Naija has returned with “Rain…,” her first single of 2025. It was co-produced by Cardiak, Wu10 and Poo Bear.
Over a Prince-inspired backdrop, Naija is drenched in a downpour of passion, craving more soul-snatching action with her partner.
“The way that my body tremblin’, you think you gotta call the ambulance / You make it do all of the things I thought it never could,” she coos over crisp snares and seductive synth wash.
Speaking on her new single, Naija shares,”‘rain…’ felt like the perfect song to open up with as I’m entering this new era. A blend of sexy and sensual lyrics along with production that hits hard and brings you all the nostalgic feels. I had to remind y’all that no matter how versatile I can get, R&B will continue to run through my veins.”
“Rain…” follows Naija’s 2024 single “Straight Outta Heaven,” a sweet tribute to her two sons. “To me, this song feels like a sequel to ‘Mama’s Hand,’ which was written for my firstborn son,” Naija explained. “When I became pregnant with my 2nd born, I worried how I would be able to split my love in half, which is something I know many mothers can identify with. That feeling led me to creating ‘Straight Outta Heaven.’”
“Straight Outta Heaven” was Naija’s third single of 2024, following “Missing You” and “Good Girls Finish Last.”
“Rain…” is the first offering from Naija’s upcoming EP, due this fall. According to press materials, the project explores “the highs, lows, and complicated in-betweens of love and relationships.”
Naija’s new EP will follow 2023’s After the Butterflies, which included collaborations with Monica, Ella Mai, Eric Bellinger and YoungBoy Never Broke Again.
