Q Shares New Song ‘Not Alone’ From Debut Album ‘Soul, Present’

R&B

Rising singer Q has announced his debut album, Soul, PRESENT, arrives May 5 via Columbia Records.

The album will contain 10 tracks, three of which were released ahead of the announcement. “Stereo Driver,” which Q self-produced, was issued as the lead single in September 2022.

Q followed with “Today,” an enjoyable song that he performed for the first time at the 2022 Soul Train Awards. Then, earlier this year, he dropped with “Luv (I Know I Want This For Real).”

Of the latter track, Q said in an Instagram Live broadcast, “I made this song in 2019. It’s a pretty old song. I was listening to it one day and was like, ‘You know what? That can fit.’”

In tandem with sharing the release date for Soul, PRESENT, Q releases a new song titled “Not Alone.” He self-produced the track, which packs in-your-face funk and soul with synthesizers and drums that dominate underneath.

Soul, PRESENT is Q’s first collection of songs since his 2020 EP, The Shave Experiment. The five-song project was expanded the following spring and titled The Shave Experience (Director’s Cut).

Regarding the Director’s Cut version, Q mentioned it was inspired by the notion “of being specific about the moments I’ve wanted to create around my music with The Shave Experiment, it’s how I feel like my vision should be experienced.”

If You Care” was signaled out as the focus track, first making waves when he first performed it for COLORS.

Q accompanied the new edition of The Shave Experiment with a short film.
