Okay, I know this post has to do with sports so I’m going to lose some of you, but give me a second. One of the coolest things about the NHL is the fact that the goalies get to have custom artwork on their helmets. It’s a great opportunity to let dudes express themselves while repping their teams at the same time.
Yesterday, Pennsylvania-based artist Franny Drummond (@paintzoo) posted an absolutely sick NHL helmet for Philadelphia Flyers goalie Dan Vladar that prominently features both Metallica and Iron Maiden.
As you can see in the clip below, the top of the helmet features Philadelphia written in the classic Metallica font, James Hetfield throughout the years pictured in and around the Flyers logo, while the side panels feature Iron Maiden’s mascot Eddie.
The Flyers may not be doing super hot at the moment, so here’s hoping a little metal representation will at least help Vladar keep the opposing goals down to a minimum.
