Paramount Global has recently undertaken significant restructuring efforts affecting its CMT and MTV properties.

Website Shutdowns: In mid-2024, Paramount Global decided to shut down the official websites for several of its cable networks, including CMT, MTV, Comedy Central, TV Land, and Paramount Network. This move involved removing all online content associated with these brands. – Forbes

Event Pauses: In early 2025, amid a merger with Skydance Media, Paramount announced the suspension of major music events such as the CMT Music Awards and the MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs). This decision was part of a broader strategy to “reimagine and optimize” these events for the future. – MySanAntonio

Channel Removals: Some service providers, like Great Plains Communications, have removed Paramount-owned channels—including CMT, MTV, Comedy Central, and others—from their lineups as of December 30, 2024. This action was due to disputes over rate increases and the shift of content to the Paramount+ streaming platform. – gpcom.com

These changes reflect Paramount’s strategic shift toward streaming services and a reevaluation of its traditional cable and event offerings.
