Omari Hardwick Co-Stars in Goapele’s ‘Purple’ Music Video

Goapele has unveiled the official music video for her new single “Purple.”

The Damien Sandaval-directed video shows Goapele and her love interest, played by actor and poet Omari Hardwick, enjoying each other’s company in front of various backdrops.

“Creating ‘Purple’ was a labor of love, a piece of my soul woven into every note. The video featuring Omari Hardwick brings a powerful visual dimension to the song’s emotional landscape,” Goapele tells Rated R&B. “I’m grateful for this collaboration and excited to share it with the world. As we move closer to the release of my upcoming album, I can’t wait for everyone to experience the full spectrum of this musical journey.”

“Purple” is the latest single from Goapele’s upcoming album, COLOURS, set to arrive this fall on Skyblaze Recordings. The album will also include the lead single, “Time Heals,” released in July. The song features contributions from Keyon Harold, Derrick Hodge, Chris Dave and Mike Aaberg.

COLOURS will follow Goapele’s 2017 project, Dreamseeker, which included the BJ The Chicago Kid-assisted “Stay.” The song peaked at No. 24 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart.

“I got to work with BJ The Chicago Kid on it, who I have been wanting to work with for a while, and we have been trying to figure out how to synergize,” Goapele told Rated R&B. “A mutual friend, Corn, produced the track, and I wanted a hard-hitting song, an 808 love song type of vibe, and it’s kind of how to show us in a relationship.”

Goapele last released an album in 2014. Strong As Grass debuted at No. 16 on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart.
