Oh God, Salad Fingers Is Back

Metal

So back in the early 2000s, when the Internet was young but hungry, there were a series of early viral videos that were designed to freak people the fuck out. Some were weird and ambient, some were normal videos with a startling moment in them, and many were these absurd, poorly-animated videos off of sites like Rotten.com and Newgrounds, which existed to be both trippy and disturbing. King among this latter category was Salad Fingers, a slow-moving character created in 2004 who liked to rub rusty spoons and taste his finger puppets over repeated atonal music; it was said that if you watched Salad Fingers while on psychedelics, you would go insane. Now, Salad Fingers is back, and his show is as upsetting as ever.

As reported by Dread Central, the new episode of Salad Fingers comes from the show’s original creator, David Firth. Apparently, David has continued with the series, but only releases an episode every few months if not years. This time around, Salad Fingers has found a dead dog, and despite the questioning of his old friend Hubert Cumberdale, Salad Fingers takes it home to bed with him. Unfortunately, love is unpredictable, and things don’t go quite as planned. It’s definitely worth noting that the animation has improved since the original, even if Firth still uses the same hypnotic music.

Watch Salad Fingers in 2022 and see if this is the one that drives you mad.
