Nija Wants Privacy on New Song ’32nd Floor’: Listen

R&B

Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Nija has returned with “32nd Floor,” her first song of 2025.

The syrupy jam, produced by Mike Hector and eliasodt, finds Nija spending intimate time with a special person — tucked away from the world. The metaphoric title speaks to the desire and thrill to have privacy in this social media age of oversharing.

“We not just anybody, keep it on the low / Gotta play our parts, they will never know,” she sings.

Speaking on the meaning behind “32nd Floor,” Nija explains to Rated R&B: “I’m a really private person, and I wanted ’32nd Floor’ to reflect that. The hotel room floor was the perfect analogy for keeping things just between us. I was intentional about every detail of the song because I wanted it to have the right balance, and the vibe clicked as soon as I heard the beat.”

“32nd Floor” follows “Unruly,” released in October 2024, her first single in two years. “I wrote ‘Unruly’ because I felt like the girlies needed another anthem to celebrate themselves,” Nija told Rated R&B. “It’s about knowing who you are, knowing your worth and knowing the power you possess while looking good doing it.”

In July 2022, Nija released the IamTash and Jack Rochon-produced “Love Like This,” five months after dropping her debut EP, Don’t Say I Didn’t Warn You, via Capitol Records.

Since then, the in-demand songwriter has kept herself busy, penning songs with stars like Beyoncé (“Cozy“), Usher (“Good Good“), Mary J. Blige (“Superpowers”), Normani (“All Yours“), and Coco Jones (“Most Beautiful Design“), among others.
