Muni Long Is Heartbroken on New Song ‘Ruined Me’: Stream

R&B

Grammy-winning singer Muni Long has released her new single “Ruined Me,” produced by Jeff “Gitty” Gitelman and Kevin Theodore.

On the somber track, Long tries to pick up the pieces of her broken heart, which makes her uncertain about future love.

“After you / I’ll probably never love again / This kind of heartbreak don’t never end / Baby, you ruined me,” Long sings in the chorus.

“Ruined Me” is the third single shared from Muni Long’s upcoming second album, Revenge.

Long first previewed the song during her set on Chris Brown‘s 11:11 Tour, which wraps up Aug. 7 in Los Angeles.

“Ruined Me” is the follow-up to “Make Me Forget,” produced by Tricky Stewart, MOMBRU, and Jehreeus. Speaking on the track, Long shared, “To me, it’s like a warm bath. It’s a love letter. It says, ‘You’re not perfect. We’ve got a lot of things to work on, but can we focus on the amazing feeling we have when we’re together?”

Both songs are preceded by Long’s latest hit, “Made For Me,” produced by Jermaine Dupri, Bryan-Michael Cox, and Jordan XL. In May, Long released her “Made For Me (Remix)” featuring music icon Mariah Carey.

“When I got the call from JD to work on the ‘Made For Me’ remix, I said yes immediately,” said Carey. “Muni is an amazing writer and performer, and this collaboration is a match made in heaven!”

Long’s sophomore album, Revenge, releases Aug. 30 on Supergiant Records/Def Jam. It’s the follow-up to 2022’s Public Displays of Affection: The Album, which included the Grammy-winning single “Hrs & Hrs.”

The endearing ballad won Best R&B Performance at the 65th Grammy Awards, earning Long her first trophy.

Speaking on her forthcoming album, Long shares, “The record is definitely my story. I’m focusing on my journey, elevating, and growing as an artist. It’s so much deeper than simply writing songs. It’s therapeutic for me to get all my thoughts out.”

She continues, “I’ve been working towards this moment for 17 years. I’m stronger than I’ve ever been. I’m focused on healing and leaving a brightness wherever I go. From my perspective, I think I did a really great job of expressing how I feel in the music. It’s like one big diary entry.”
