Emerging singer and songwriter MOONGA K. is feeling down on love on his new single “Lonely Forever,” produced by Quietmoneymusic.
On the bluesy, introspective track, the Zambian-born, Botswana-raised artist tries to make sense of repeated patterns of failed relationships.
“Why do I always pick the wrong ones? / Make a mess and leave my eyes with wild floods / Oh dear, they weren’t so sincere / I give my all and don’t even get half back / Am I an idiot? / Is this love laced with crack?” he sings in the first verse.
“I always find it therapeutic to write about the truth, and especially of my experiences, which in this case is focused on my unfortunate experiences with folks that I fall for or find myself in situationships with,” MOONGA K. explained. “I love love, the idea of falling in love fills me with electricity, but reciprocity has never really been offered to me.”
He continued, “I’ve questioned that a lot — am I undesirable? unlovable? undeserving? What am I doing wrong that makes my journey of love feel like it’s destined to end in loneliness? I’ve been taking a lot of these questions to the altar recently but I’ve also allowed things to be as they are. as they’re meant to be.”
“Lonely Forever” is the follow-up to “Feels Like,” which dropped in October 2022. Both songs are expected to appear on his upcoming sophomore album, Garden.
According to a tweet by MOONGA K., Garden is slated to arrive in September on Wild Everest Records.
It will mark his first proper album since 2018’s Wild Solace. Since then, MOONGA K. has released three EPs: An Ode to Growth (2020), Candid (2021) and IV (2022).
