Monét X Change Shares New Song ‘Body’

R&B

Monét X Change has released her new single “Body,” produced by Cannon Mapp, Alx Stefano and Eritza Laues.

On the heartfelt track, Monét grows tired of empty connections that don’t go beyond the bedroom and, instead, yearns for substantive love.

“Don’t wanna catch myself another body / Don’t wanna wake up to just anybody / Don’t wanna download another body / Really wanna love somebody,” she sings in the chorus.

Speaking on her new single, Monét X Change tells Rated R&B: “‘Body’ like a lot of the songs on my upcoming project really encapsulate my state of mind when I wrote it. It’s a reflection on being so sick and tired of getting on the apps, searching all day to catch a body for the night; just to repeat and do it all again in a few days…or the next.”

Monét concludes, “Ultimately, I wanted to connect to the desire and need of both the listeners as well as myself for something more intimate or substantial.”

As Monét noted above, she is set to release her new project later this year; it will follow her pop-oriented EP, Unapologetically, which included her fierce bop “Beyoncé.”

Music aside, Monét is known for winning season four of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars in 2019. She became the first queen of color to be inducted into the Drag Race Hall of Fame.
