Masego decided to take a break from Studying Abroad and, instead, throw a “Garden Party” with rap legend Big Boi and Dreamville’s JID.
With the Iman Omari and Jack Dine-produced track, Masego proves he’s the breath of fresh air R&B needs, featuring a heavy saxophone presence in the neo-soul-inspired production. JID’s and Big Boi’s appearance act as a generational bridge, merging the sound of two respected MCs from different eras on one track.
“Garden Party” comes just under a year after releasing an upsized edition of his 2020 EP, Studying Abroad: Extended Stay. It arrived with five new songs, including “Well Traveled” and “Mystery Lady (Sego’s Remix),” the second of which he released an official music video for in July.
In April, Masego received his first RIAA certification with his viral hit “Tadow” with FKJ. It went platinum.
