Mary J. Blige continues to outdo her own achievements. Her new single “Still Believe In Love,” featuring Vado, climbs six slots to No. 9 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart.
It’s Blige’s 26th top 10 hit on this list, extending her record as the artist with the most top 10s on this chart. Since the Adult R&B Airplay launched 30 years ago, Blige has tallied 61 entries.
Blige achieved her first taste of top 10 success in 1994 with “Be Happy,” the lead single from her beloved sophomore album, My Life. The song reached its peak at No. 8 in December of that year.
In the summer of 2022, Blige earned her 25th top 10 hit with “Here With Me,” featuring Anderson .Paak.
The song, which earned Blige a Best R&B Performance Grammy nomination, was part of her 15th studio album Good Morning Gorgeous (Deluxe) and climbed to No. 4 in September 2022.
At R&B Radio, “Still Believe In Love” advances to No. 8 this week.
“Still Believe In Love” was released Oct. 27 on Blige’s Beautiful Life Music imprint. It’s her first top 10 triumph on her independent label.
The nostalgic track, co-produced by DJ Cassidy and Jeff Gitty Gitelman, samples Mtume’s “C.O.D. (I’ll Deliver).”
Upon its digital drop, it debuted on other Billboard charts, including R&B Digital Song Sales (No. 8) and R&B/Hip-Hip Digital Song Sales (No. 10).
In an October interview with Mike Shannon of SiriusXM’s Heart & Soul, Blige confirmed that “Still Believe In Love” is not a part of a future album and that it is a standalone track.
Blige’s latest album, Good Morning Gorgeous, was launched in February 2022, followed by a deluxe version.
The latter includes the empowering hit single “Good Morning Gorgeous” as well as collaborations with Usher, Ne-Yo, H.E.R., Fivio Foreign, DJ Khaled, Remy Ma, and others.
Good Morning Gorgeous (Deluxe) received nominations for Album of the Year and Best R&B Album at the 65th Grammy Awards, where Blige also performed.
On the wings of Blige’s new top 10 hit, it has been announced that she is collaborating with Bryan-Michael Cox and Johntá Austin on new music. The untitled song will appear on The Color Purple official soundtrack, out Dec. 15 via Warner Bros. Pictures.
Additionally, in support of the 10th anniversary of her holiday album, A Mary Christmas, Blige has reissued it with new songs and a vinyl release.
